FAQ

The PulsePro is an adapter for tractor-trailers that mitigates the risk of rear-end collisions. It pulsates the turn signal lights on the trailer for one second when the brakes are applied and it also pulsates the turn signals while the tractor-trailer is reversing if the trailer is already equipped with backup lights.
Drivers following a trailer whose taillights flash briefly when the brakes are applied respond much more quickly by braking, especially if they have been inattentive or distracted. Pulsed turn signals when reversing a semi-trailer have also been proven to provide greater safety; this practice is recognized by many security organizations. The PulsePro now makes this an automatic safety feature.
There is a broad consensus among researchers and government agencies that brake-activated pulsating light systems can reduce the incidence of rear-end collisions. There is also a case study involving a fleet of trucks that demonstrates unequivocally a reduction in rear-end collisions as a result of using flashing taillights. You can access the case study along with the peer-reviewed and government studies by clicking on the “Studies” tab of our site.
The PulsePro has many advantages, especially when compared to similar products. The PulsePro: 1) can be installed on the truck, avoiding the cost of installing on every trailer, 2) significantly mitigates the risk of rear-end collisions, 3) helps reduce costs of insurance, 4) fully complies with federal, provincial, and state laws, 5) is inexpensive, especially when compared to alternative solutions, 6) is transferable to any other truck, 7) will not affect the manufacturer’s warranty.
No. The Auxiliary/ABS power line passes through the PulsePro and is not connected to any circuit boards.
No. Whether you’re driving and need to brake or you’re simply backing up, the brake lights, the white reversing lights and any other marker lights on the truck or the trailer will continue to function as they would have normally and will not be affected by the PulsePro. The PulsePro does not impair the truck’s or the trailer’s lighting equipment.
No. The PulsePro has been designed to include an electrical bypass if for any reason the circuit inside the unit fails, thereby ensuring that the trailer’s lights will continue to function normally.
Yes. The PulsePro is warranted for 1 year against defects in components and workmanship provided it is installed professionally by a certified truck mechanic.
Yes, the PulsePro works both on trailers equipped with LED and incandescent lights.
No. The PulsePro is a plug and play adapter that mounts on a truck’s deck plate. Once secured in place, the PulsePro plugs into the truck’s J560 7-pin connector socket. When hooking a trailer to the truck, the 7-pin electrical connection cable is plugged into the PulsePro. It is recommended that the PulsePro be installed professionally by a certified truck mechanic.
Yes. However, given that trailers outnumber trucks by a factor of at least 3, it is by far more cost efficient to install the PulsePro on your truck. Once the PulsePro is installed on a truck, any trailer connected to it is automatically adapted so its turn signal lights flash when the brakes are applied.
Yes. The PulsePro is completely weather resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures, from -50º C to 85º C.
No. The PulsePro is programmed to reset the pulsating light sequence only after 7 seconds have elapsed since the previous application of the brakes. This 7-second delay is designed specifically to ensure that turn signal lights do not constantly flash in stop and go traffic.
The turn signal lights will flash 4 times in one second (4 Hertz) before switching off or resuming flashing if they were already engaged when the brakes were applied.
Other brake-activated pulsating light systems pulse a trailer’s brake lights. This can be in direct contravention of federal, provincial and/or state laws. By pulsing a trailer’s turn signals instead, PulsePro provides the same level of protection while avoiding any related legal liability of the truck owner or driver.
Each PulsePro unit is hand assembled and put through a 10-step testing process to ensure that it functions as intended before it can be sold.
The PulsePro is manufactured in Canada in an ISO certified production facility.
Yes. The makers of the PulsePro have patent pending applications for their invention in the USA, Canada, and internationally.
